Reason for working with kids: Always had the passion to teach and to learn with others, since very young my dream was to coach football and become a PE teacher. Being a coach for more than 10yrs gives me even more desire to continue this role and make part of the kids development teaching them basic human values through sports. Sports are extremely important for children’s development at all levels and is a pleasure and a challenge to be part of this journey. Being a father made me understand even more how important it is and how we are remarkable role models for them.

Adriana Quintela

Adriana Quintela

Coach

Qualifications:  Graduated in Sport Sciences and Post Graduated in Physical Activity for Elder People.

Reasons for working with kids:  During my time at University I worked as a Handball Assistant Coach. This experience took me to work closely with girls between 7 and 14 years old and gave me the opportunity of working with an athlete with special needs.

I love sports! And apart of Handball, I also used to swim. Therefore, in 2014, I have decided to become a lifeguard. This was where I found out that working with children was my passion! I spent great moments teaching them about the beach and the sea and how safe and dangerous it can be to play next to it.

My favourite athlete is Cristiano Ronaldo, not only because he is one of the most successful Portuguese athletes I had the opportunity to see, but also due to his work ethic, leadership qualities and capacity to overcome obstacles!

I’ve been Athletics Coach for over 10 years and I also learn from the children I’m working with, this because we don’t only focus on the difficulties the kids are having, but also on the kids strengths and taking in consideration different ages, personalities and also what they like to do or not, making this profission a big challenge every day.

Davide Esteves

Davide Esteves

Coach

Qualifications: Masters degree in Sports Science, UEFA B Football License, Lifeguard, P1 CMAS Scuba Diver.

Reasons for working with kids: I think if each one of us try to leave the world a little better than we found before, next generations can do even better than us. On this assumption, sports are a powerful tool to teach the kids how to be a better human being, growing healthy and with some crucial bases as, respect, share, solidarity, friendship, teamwork, etc. See the kids growing every day with this values and getting better and in love with the sports, is amazing and a great prize to appreciate at the end of the day.

Favourite sports: Football, Tennis, Trekking

Favourite athlete: My favourite play would have to be England rugby legend Jonny Wilkinson. From an early age he dreamed and believed he could be and would be one of the best fly-halfs in rugby history and would play in a rugby World Cup final. He achieved this and much more and inspired the next generation to believe it can be done and anyone can do it. His attitude towards training and playing was to simply be the best, no matter what asked of him he I would give it his all. Battling through countless injuries and set backs his career spanned a decade playing in the English premiership and in France and for England And Lions tours.

Since I finish sports Uni, I’ve mainly worked with kids, and Sporkids Connection was another great opportunity to keep it going!
